Life at BCIT

BCIT is one of the most popular colleges in Vancouver as it offers a lot of programs and courses from all areas of study to its students.

In this post, we will not write about a particular program offered by BCIT, but we will write a little about how is student life inside the school.

BCIT has 5 campuses across the Lower Mainland; you have the opportunity to choose from more than 300 programs in a number of highly desirable areas of study, including applied and natural sciences, business and media, computing and information technology, engineering, health sciences, and trades.

Each of our programs includes hands-on learning opportunities so you’re not just learning theory, you’re getting a head start at practicing your new career. BCIT works closely with industry to ensure our programs match employers’ needs and that’s why organizations across the province –and around the world- know that an education from BCIT is the ticket to success. That’s why 92% of employed BCIT degree graduates are working in their field of study compared to the provincial average of 80%.

BCIT helps create solutions and invents new and better ways of doing things, making a difference in the world. When you choose BCIT, you’re opening the door to endless possibilities.

Your experience starts here

As a new student at BCIT, you’ll be introduced to the hidden gems only BCIT insiders are privy to. First stop: grabbing a latte at the Stand or the Rix and settling in with new classmates in the Great Hall to compare notes on your first classes.

Throughout your time at BCIT, you’ll find yourself navigating the bookstore, exploring campus with new friends, and taking in the scenes across campus. Whether studying full-time or taking advantage of the flexibility of our part-time study options, BCIT and all it has to offer is yours to discover.

Take time to Hit Pause

It’s mid-terms, your birthday, you’ve completed your first project…it’s Friday. No matter what the cause for celebration, you’ll have plenty of options to take a breather. Pop on down to Habitat, grab a burger or just kick back on the patio and chill.

Be sure to take advantage of your free access to the Fitness Centre. It’s equipped with cardio machines, free weights, and tons of other equipment to get your workout on. You can also challenge a friend to squash match or settle in and focus your mind in a yoga class. And those are just a few of the activities and classes available to you. No matter how crazy your schedule gets, make time to de-stress and recharge.

Sometimes though, all you need is a quiet place to collect your thoughts. The library is the perfect escape from the bustle, and if you need some extra help on an assignment, you can access free peer tutoring through the Learning Commons and writing help from the Writing Centre.

With the coursework being your number one priority, set up some time with your fellow classmates for study lesions. Grab a coffee and find a seat on the steps in SW1, or set up shop at a picnic table along Goard Way. BCIT will be like your second home – find your favourite hang-out spot and make it your own.
